Going to Uni generally means getting up so super early that the sun isn't even awake yet, so make up can be quite challenging for the sleep deprived student population. However, I've found a great routine that works really well for me and i thought that by sharing it with you that maybe the early morning won't mean you leave the house in Zombie mode.

After my morning skincare routine i start with my base. I apply the Maybelline BB cream which i absolutely love! Its so easy to apply and leaves my face felling dewy without coming home and realising my face as been reflecting the sun into everyones eyes. Then with my powder brush i set it with my Mayelline pressed powder which as you can tell is very much loved and used. I find the colour perfect for my skin tone any time of the season and just seems to work really well at making my base, bb cream or foundation, last all day.

Next, i move on to my cheeks and this usually depends on a number of factors to which one i choose, those being my mood, my outfit and the season. Generally when i wear my bb cream because it is so light in coverage compared to my normal foundation the natural flush of my cheeks comes through so i tend to lean towards my Avon bronzing pearls (which is also verging on a replacment). The little pearls vary in shades from dark and deep rose, light brown/beige to what i consider to be an original bronzing of deep browns. Plus it smells ah-mazing! My other cheek choice is my Too Faced Blusher and it is seriously perfect in every way. It consists of the 3 shades of pinky/rose with a shimmer finish and really complements my cheek bones.

For my eyes i usually keep it very simple with my mascara and maybe eyeliner depending on how long i slept in for. At the moment the Maybelline mascara is impressing me, it extends all my lashes and doesn't make it go clumpy. If i have time, i tend to put my Rimmel eye definer along the top lip and extend it out to a very small cat eye flick. I don't really enjoy putting it on my bottom of my eye, i think it makes them look small and bug like, but thats just my personal preference.

Finally, my most favourite part, choosing my lipstick/balm/stain/gloss. Lately I've been reaching for my Bourjois in Peach on the Beach simple because it last so long, doesn't dry my lips out and the shade is so pretty. What more could you want?

And voila, i am ready for a long haul at Uni. I hope this helped you create a go to ridiculously early morning must haves, please leave comments about your experience with these products or what you are grabbing in the morning.

City that never sleeps

Late last night i was a part of the 70+ thousand that flocked to the hallowed turf of the Melbourne Cricket Ground for a classic clash between the Swans and the Hawks which ended in a close battle 10 point margin win to the Hawks on home soil.
Sorry ill end my unoriginal sports editorial domineer and tell you why i wanted to share this seemingly normal and much loved event with you.

Going to a AFL match is one of my most loved and prized memories going back as far as i can remember. Rugging up in too many layers that you begin to fall into the michelin man category of fashion statements, sitting in the nose bleed section (for those of you unfamiliar it is the upper most level of the ground where you become one with the circling birds looking for a chip that the annoying toddler 4 seats, 2 rows done has dropped), cheering till you are sore in the throat and the final siren signals the long march back to the car.

While on the long march to the car with my dad and brother i realised that no matter wether my team won or lost i could never remember the details of the game, and thats not from lack of trying. I remember the car ride into the city of Melbourne, 45-60 min drive from where i live, the jokes and the games that may have ensued along the way, the trouble finding a car park and either myself or my brother running down to find the parking sign to determine if the search was over, the walk to the ground where fellow support give the friendly nod of approval that tonight would be a good one, as if you needed it really when the car ride was that interesting, the frantic rush to find the best general admittance seating in the same vacinity as your teams cheer squad but away from the annoying pack of young adults who won't remember how they even got to the game the next day. Ive traveled and i plan on travelling more but I've never experienced anything like the roar of the mcg crowd. Period.

But my love of the game extends further then just the rules and the sculptured men in tiny shorts running around, it pours out into the city i love, Melbourne. Last night there was a man/women dressed in a Mario costume playing a ukulele for a few coins outside the train station, the pubs/clubs were overflowing and the music and glow of their enticing signs made each street we navigated to the car a little more interested, the pizza place on the corner with the graffiti art you could smell blocks away and the sense that the night was just beginning consumed me. I wanted to explore.. but i also wanted bed and to make jokes with my brother in the car ride home.
So as the city lights faded in the rear view mirror, i will always attend a Swans match in Melbourne, but more so, i will always discover something exciting in my city.

Proudly Melbourne.

Can you have a rest day when you don't even exercise?

Today is finally my day off. Day off from attending Uni, my job at Uni, my other casual job and as of last night tutoring for VCE Psychology but most importantly it is my day off from waking up at 5-6am and boy did it feel good to sleep in past 9am.

I don't take enough time to be grateful for all the opportunities that i have been given and this week really opened my eyes to the possibilities of what i am truly capable of. I don't know why or how i became bound by a set of restrictions that i set for myself but all i know is that i hated them, every single moment of the day there was a part of me that hated that i doubted myself. I woke up Monday morning, not bright eyed or bushy tailed but rather zombie like, knowing that this will possible be one of the hardest most testing weeks so far. I believe that when you are given an opportunity you must make it your duty to do everything perfectly, maybe thats because I'm on the verge of being a perfections or whatever, and I'm so incredibly hard on myself and create this extra amount of stress and almost anxiety to maintain this. But on Monday morning i somehow let it all go. I mean, i was still striving for excellence, i don't think ill every be able to let that go really, why should i aim for anything lower? However, i woke up as a new me, in a cliche kind of way, and accepted that i am so blessed to be alive, happy and heading towards becoming a successful business woman with an amazing partner and family beside me.

So, now that i have completed this week, my 'rest day' will be filled with planning for next week when it all starts again while i inhale the sweet sweet fragrence of my Glasshouse candle (my goodness it is just that good) and play with my puppy.

I passed this week, with flying colours because i wanted to and i couldn't be prouder.

Happy Tuesday

Hellllo everyone!

Welcome to my little blog.

I am your average girl behind a Mac enjoying every waking moment, filled with ups and downs. I never have a dull moment. Working 2 jobs - your local McDonalds employee and at my university while i study to teach future generations at high school about psychology and literature.

I am in a amazing 4 year relationship with my boyfriend. Things have changed recently to more of a long distance relationship. And by long distance i mean he now lives on the other side of the city to me when we use to be less then 10 minutes away.

Online i am absolutely obsessed with researching every new and improved beauty product and reading/watching reviews. As a result, a massive shout out to Zoella who really inspired me to start documenting my enjoyment with beauty products.

So please, enjoy my posts, comment and suggest anything i should try or your own experiences with what i review.

All my love,
GR
